Restore Microbial Balance in Your Home

HomeShock™ is a whole-house mold treatment for homes and businesses where microbial ecology has fallen out of balance. The process works like shocking pool water, addressing fungi, molds, bacteria, algae, and viruses along with their secondary metabolites, musty odors, and building material VOCs. Here you will find the three treatment steps, what each validates, and what to expect afterward.

When You Cannot Find the Source and Cannot Wait

This matters most when someone in the home is sensitized, the source of the mold problem is not yet known, or you need time to act. Hidden mold in crawl spaces, wall cavities, and above ceiling tiles keeps producing airborne spores while the HVAC system carries them into rooms nobody has touched. Mold spreads, and further damage follows.

What is HomeShock™?

This rapid response helps eradicate microorganisms, stabilize the home's biome, and give occupants time to identify the source and correct it.

HomeShock™ incorporates a GWE Proprietary Process alongside industry-accepted protocols for remediation, using products registered with the Environmental Protection Agency. The process is customized to your environment, whether a home, business, or retail space, and usually involves the following steps.

Step I Environmental Cleanse

An enhanced fine particulate cleanse is the first step in HomeShock™, designed to identify and purge nuisance dust, respirable dust, and nanoparticles.

  • A
Trained and certified building biologists and mold experts identify microbial reservoirs to be addressed, from crawl spaces and basements to wood framing and above ceiling tiles.
  • B
Contents and smalls are further addressed.
  • C
Pre-treatment with Vaporous Hydrogen Peroxide may be needed.
  • D
A team of eradicators physically cleans reservoirs and wipes down horizontal and vertical surfaces with EPA-registered biocides, completing a fine particulate cleanse.
  • E
HEPA-equipped air scrubbers and vacuums filter the air and prevent spores from spreading during the cleanup process.
  • F
Pre- and post-treatment conditions are validated with ATP machines.

Step II — Microbial and VOC Eradication

Vaporous Hydrogen Peroxide has been proven as a rapid eradicator of biological agents and microorganisms including molds, bacteria, fungi, yeast, and mycotoxins. The US FDA considers VHP an established method of sterilization, recognizing its long history of safety and effectiveness.

  • A
Trained and certified VHP technicians design a treatment plan based on identified mold reservoirs.
  • B
Treatment areas are prepped, with confined spaces such as cabinets, dresser drawers, and chests opened to allow saturation.
  • C
VHP treatment is applied and dwell time is maintained.
  • D
Treatment is validated with biological strips, peroxide sensors, and ATP machines.

Step III — Building Biome Enhancement

Not all microorganisms are bad. Particularly when dealing with someone sensitized to mold or living with mold illness, a healthy biome is the goal.

  • A
Application of proven probiotics via an ultra-low volume fogger.
  • B
Process further validated with ATP machines.

How HomeShock™ Compares to Mold Remediation

They solve different problems, and knowing which you need saves money.

Professional mold remediation starts with a qualified mold inspector assessing the extent of mold growth, followed by containment and ventilation of the affected area. Heavily contaminated porous materials such as moldy drywall are discarded, while hard, non-porous surfaces are cleaned with detergents or antimicrobial solutions. Encapsulation follows once most mold is removed, and post-remediation verification confirms indoor spore counts have returned to normal. The EPA considers professional remediation necessary for areas larger than 10 square feet.

Mold inspection and remediation

HomeShock™ treats the whole house when the source has not been located, addressing every reservoir at once rather than one affected area. It does not remove mold-infested materials or replace remediation where visible mold is present. It stabilizes the environment while you find what caused it.

Most homeowners with visible mold need remediation. Homeowners with unexplained symptoms, musty odors, and no identified source need HomeShock™ first.

Why Choose GreenWorks for HomeShock™

Three-Step Proprietary Process

Cleansing, eradication, and biome enhancement in sequence, treating multiple rooms and every affected area at once. Most treatments stop at killing things. Restoring beneficial microbial balance afterward is what keeps a space stable rather than sterile.

Validated With ATP Testing

Pre- and post-treatment conditions are measured with ATP machines, biological strips, and peroxide sensors. Post-treatment verification confirms mold levels came down, so you get a before and after reading rather than an assurance the work was done.

Built for Sensitized Occupants

Our team includes mold survivors and building biologists who understand what a sensitized occupant experiences, including those reporting immune suppression and other health problems. Treatment plans account for that rather than applying a commercial protocol to a home.

Guarantees and Disclaimers

There are no guarantees on whether the treatment will improve the home's indoor air quality or the occupants' health conditions. GWE has experienced good results lasting 10 to 18 months.

When dealing with nuisance odors and biotoxins, our experience is that odors and toxins tend to amplify initially after treatment. As bound-up material associated with contents and building materials is released from a saturated state in the home, occupants often state they feel worse at first. That general malaise typically dissipates with the use of air purifiers and ventilators once ambient conditions are given time to rebalance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is HomeShock™ and How Is It Different From Mold Remediation?

Professional mold remediation removes visible mold and mold-infested materials, then corrects the underlying moisture source. HomeShock™ treats the whole house when the source has not been found yet, addressing microorganisms, their secondary metabolites, odors, and VOCs across every reservoir at once.

When Should I Choose HomeShock™ Over Standard Remediation?

When someone in the home is sensitized and reacting, when mold inspection has not yet located the source, or when you need the environment stabilized while you arrange the permanent fix. It is a rapid response, not a substitute for professional mold removal where visible mold is present.

What Does HomeShock™ Cost?

Cost depends on the size of the property, the number of reservoirs identified, and whether multiple rooms need treatment. Mold remediation costs are usually quoted by square footage plus labor costs, while HomeShock™ is scoped to the whole house. We quote after assessing the space.

Does HomeShock™ Replace Fixing the Moisture Problem?

No. Mold cannot survive without water, and treatment without correcting the source means growth returns. A roof leak, plumbing leaks, or standing water in the basement will restart it. HomeShock™ gives you time to find and fix what is feeding the mold in your home.

What Is Vaporous Hydrogen Peroxide?

VHP is an established method of sterilization recognized by the US FDA, effective against molds including toxic molds, bacteria, fungi, yeast, and mycotoxins. It reaches confined spaces such as cabinets and drawers that wiping hard surfaces and non-porous surfaces cannot.

What Types of Mold Are Found Indoors?

Molds are classified as allergenic, pathogenic, or toxigenic. Allergenic molds carry low to moderate health impacts, pathogenic molds cause moderate to high issues in people with weakened immunity, and toxigenic molds produce harmful mycotoxins. Aspergillus and Penicillium are common indoor species, and black mold, or Stachybotrys, is toxigenic.

How Do You Verify the Treatment Worked?

ATP machines measure pre and post conditions, biological strips confirm sterilization was achieved, and peroxide sensors monitor concentration and dwell time. Post-treatment verification is what separates a validated result from an assumption.

Does HomeShock™ Reduce Airborne Spores During Treatment?

Yes. HEPA filtration through air scrubbers and vacuums runs throughout Step I, preventing spores from spreading while reservoirs are physically cleaned. Air filtration devices continue reducing airborne mold spores as the treatment progresses.

Can I Clean Mold Myself Instead?

For a small patch on a hard surface, detergent and water often work, and the EPA sets 10 square feet as the threshold above which professional help is warranted. Never mix bleach with ammonia, and do not use a shop vacuum on mold, since it spreads spores rather than containing them.

Will the Treatment Damage Electronics or Contents?

Vaporous hydrogen peroxide does not harm sensitive equipment or electronics, which is why the method is used in hospitals and laboratories. Confined spaces are opened deliberately so the vapor reaches contents rather than being kept from them.

Why Might I Feel Worse Immediately After Treatment?

Bound-up odors and biotoxins release from saturated building materials and contents as the treatment works, so amplification is normal at first. That malaise typically dissipates as air purifiers, ventilators, and ambient conditions bring the home back into balance.

How Long Do Results Last?

GWE has experienced good results lasting 10 to 18 months. Duration depends on whether the underlying moisture source was corrected, since indoor humidity above 60% and any water damage left unaddressed will restart mold growth. Mold thrives in damp, poorly ventilated areas.

Is Mold Remediation Licensed in New Jersey?

New Jersey has no specific statewide licensing category for mold remediation. That makes voluntary certification, insurance, and demonstrated methodology the key credentials worth evaluating when hiring any mold remediation company, as the state sets no formal licensing bar.

Does My Insurance Cover Mold Treatment?

Coverage depends on the policy and the cause. Most homeowners' policies cover mold resulting from a sudden covered event such as a burst pipe, and exclude mold from long-term humidity or deferred maintenance. Your insurance company decides based on how the water got there.

Is HomeShock™ Suitable for Businesses?

Yes. The process is customized for homes, businesses, retail shops, and other occupied spaces. Treatment scale and scheduling follow the building and its occupancy rather than a fixed protocol.

Does HomeShock™ Include Mold Testing?

Building biologists identify microbial reservoirs as part of Step I, and ATP readings validate before and after. Where you need species identification, indoor air quality testing, or a mycotoxin panel, our mold testing and mycotoxin sampling services cover that separately.
