GreenWorks Environmental Is a Certified Humidex Dealer

GreenWorks Environmental has been improving indoor air quality across New Jersey for 18+ years, and we are a certified Humidex dealer. A Humidex ventilation system is smart home ventilation that reduces excess humidity by continuously monitoring indoor conditions and exhausting moist air outside. If your damp, musty basement or crawl space drives humidity into the rooms above, the right Humidex unit fixes the cause rather than the symptom. Here you will find every unit we install, what each one covers, how we match a system to your space, and what it costs. We are family-owned, operating out of Wall Township (NJHIC # 13VH04630000).

What a Humidex Is Used For

Damp, musty basements — where humidity concentrates and the stack effect starts, carrying air pollutants upstairs to affect family health

Crawl spaces — including high crawl spaces with pony or knee walls, where crawlspace humidity levels run highest

Preventing mold growth — continuous air circulation in basements prevents mold and mildew before remediation is needed

Eliminating musty odors — proper ventilation removes the damp, stale air producing musty smells rather than covering them

Window condensation and moisture damage — excess humidity causes structural damage over time, and moving it out addresses the cause

Garages and confined areas — venting dangerous fumes and carbon monoxide out of an unconditioned space attached to the house

How to Choose the Right Humidex Unit

Match coverage to the actual space, not the whole house. Units run from 750 sq. ft. for a garage up to 3,200 sq. ft. for a whole home. A crawl space with pony walls needs the DVS-HW rather than a standard unit that will not fit the geometry. Always measure the space you are treating.

Decide whether you need two-zone monitoring. HCS units monitor humidity at two control points, reading the basement and the first level, which matters when the problem is not confined to one floor. Standard DVS units monitor where they sit.

Decide whether CO detection matters. Garages, and any basement with a fuel-burning appliance, benefit from a unit that detects and exhausts dangerous fumes alongside moisture. That capability is on HCS myHome and GVS-SD2 models only.

Why Buy Your Humidex From GreenWorks

Sized to Your Space, Not Upsold

We assess humidity and airflow before recommending anything; where a garage unit solves your problem, we say so rather than quoting whole-home ventilation. Where EZ Breathe or AC Infinity fits a space better, we install those instead.

Runs Itself, No Maintenance Involved

No water buckets to empty and no filters to clean. We commission the humidistat at install so the unit responds to indoor conditions on its own, then confirm humidity has moved into range before we leave.

CO Detection on Select Models

We tell you which configurations include carbon monoxide detection and whether your space needs it. That decision follows the fuel-burning appliances and attached spaces in your home, not the price tier.

How to Order a Humidex System

STEP 01

Schedule a Moisture Evaluation

We measure humidity in the basement or crawl space and check air circulation, confirming whether excess humidity is the whole problem or whether drainage is contributing.

STEP 01

STEP 02

Match the Unit to the Space

You get a recommendation detailing the coverage area, CFM, and whether smart air quality monitoring or CO detection fits your space.

STEP 02

STEP 03

Installation

We handle placement at the lowest point of the space, the exterior vent penetration, and the electrical connection. This is not a DIY project.

STEP 03

STEP 04

Commissioning and Tech Support

We set the humidity level, walk you through the controls, and confirm the readings have moved into range. Tech support continues afterward.

I've had issues with my basement being musty and damp for a few years now. My wife's nephew recommended getting a humidex unit because his father had one and it worked great. So I looked up local dealers and found Greenworks. First we had a consultation with Victor who was very informative and set us up with the unit. The 2 installers Zac and Evan came and installed the unit in very little time. They were very professional, knowledgeable and cleaned up nicely after themselves. I highly recommend Greenworks for any environmental issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does a Humidex System Cost?

Prices start at $1,945. Garage units run a few hundred dollars installed, and complicated crawl space units with accessory fans and dedicated outlets run around $2,500. Basement and patio units fall somewhere in between.

Do I Pay Sales Tax on a Humidex?

No. Your Humidex is considered a capital improvement in New Jersey. Fill out the ST-8 form your installer provides to keep everything documented properly.

How Do You Get Rid of Humidity in the Basement?

Cool, moisture-laden air is dense and settles at the basement floor, which is why basements hold higher humidity than the rest of the house. The Humidex draws that air in and expels it outside. The void fills with fresh, conditioned air from upstairs, pushing the remaining stale air toward the ventilator until the entire home benefits.

Why Is Humidity Control Important in New Jersey?

Coastal regions carry high ambient moisture through the summer months, which makes managing indoor relative humidity harder here than inland. Humidity combined with poor ventilation is what produces mold and mildew, and a damp basement can contaminate the entire home rather than staying below grade.

Does a Humidex Improve Indoor Air Quality?

Yes. Continuous air exchange reduces airborne pollutants alongside excess moisture, delivering cleaner air throughout the house. Humidex technology reduces humidity and eliminates unpleasant odors at the source rather than masking musty smells.

Can It Monitor Humidity in Two Places?

HCS models monitor humidity at two control points, reading indoor conditions in both the basement and the first level. That gives better control where the problem is not confined to one floor, and it means you never enter the crawl space to check a reading.

How Quickly Should I Expect Results?

Within a couple of days, you should notice fewer musty odors as the space begins to dry out. Most homeowners report that air quality in the space is transformed within one to two weeks, provided the source of water intrusion has been resolved.

Is There Any Maintenance Involved?

Very little. Wipe the grille cover at the bottom of the unit and keep the exterior vent cover free of debris once or twice a year. There are no water buckets to empty and no filters to replace, which is the practical difference from an old dehumidifier.

How Does It Work in Different Seasons?

Smart control features automatically adjust ventilation based on humidity and dew-point conditions. Summer is the most humid season, and as ambient humidity drops toward winter, the Humidex shifts into maintenance mode. Summer and winter settings let you maximize the unit's efficiency.

Does the Humidex Have a Warranty?

Yes, five years on parts, with two years on the control unit for HCS models and two years on garage units. The HumiFresh Hybrid 120 energy recovery system carries ten years on the cabinet and a lifetime warranty on the HRV core.

How Long Does a Humidex Last?

Homeowners report units running 10, 20, or even 30 years before experiencing any issues. Individual results vary based on the space and how hard the unit operates, but they are built to last a long time.
